Coastal Plastic watch

Mission: To clean up our coastal waters and to stop the use of unnecessary plastic
Founder: Nicole sorochan, Victoria
Description: Have you ever went for a walk on a beautiful sandy beach only to look into the sand and see different bits of plastic from around the world? Our waters are full of bits of plastic that will not decompose. The plankton to plastic ratio is consistently increasing, and organisms in our waters take in plastic bits through filtration systems. Not only is this destroying our waters, but those of us who eat fish and also digesting plastic.
Details: This group has bee created to help start a movement whereby people spend one weekend a month cleaning up our shorelines. We need to get people involved around the world. If the whole world can participate in Earth Hour, why can we not work together to create a healthier more sustainable earth and clean up the mess we created? We also need to stop using plastic! No plastic shopping bags, no waterbottles.... Avoid using plastic at all costs! Please use this space to help collaborate on ideas of how to start this movement, and lets bring it off line as soon as possible! :)
